As an expressionist painter Steve’s visionary work transcends mere representation and shows us a window into the soul of the landscape.

He shows us an ever-moving, living, breathing testament to the timeless beauty and spiritual essence of Cornwall and has been celebrated for the quality of light he brings to his atmospheric paintings.

Living and working in Cornwall, his semi-abstract impressions of his native land with its ever shifting moods of light and deep sense of mystery have inspired him to “paint the intimacy that exists between the observer and the thing closely observed – with the eyes of the heart.”

Steve has been included in the UK art education curricula showing recognition of his artistic vision and enduring significance in the field of landscape painting. His work has been studied for its quality of light in educational foundation courses.

His painting career began in 1979, studying under the late John Miller. He has exhibited widely throughout Cornwall and the UK and his works are in numerous private collections worldwide.
